"Bits and Bobs"

The view from the Wolcott hotel where we were staying
Free magazines given to us at the departure gate at the airport ... THANK YOU VIRGIN AIRWAYS!
Aerial view of Times Square from the Ann Inc Building
Purchases bought on my travels

Here are some random photo’s from before, during and after our time in New York.
The Wolcott hotel where we were staying was so close to the Empire State building we could see it from our window! The hotel was a little worn but had the most opulent lobby with beautiful detailing and traditional furnishings.

I had to show a picture of the magazines I managed to grab at the Gate in the airport, finding out they were free our entire course swarmed around the rack and got our hands on as many as we could carry. I was ecstatic as the combined value of what I picked up was over £20.

Oh and I had to take a quick snap of what I purchased in NY. These items are from a range of places including, Century 21, American Apparel, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, markets in Soho and little boutiques.

There is also a picture of the view of Times Square from the Ann Inc building but more about that in the next post.

I'M BACK

Me at the top of the Empire State Building

I had the most amazing time in New York City.

The FCP group have been back for a few days now and are slowly shaking the jet lag!

I have so many pictures to sort through and post that I cant wait to share.

Packing

In my bag

Just finished packing... Phew!

I took a few snaps as I was going along to show what I have in my bag and what I have planed to wear each day. I have chosen clothing that can be easily layered so I stay warm in chilly NY.

I also found an old NY map of my Dad’s and have started marking all of the major sites I want to visit in readiness for when we arrive J

Planning for NYC

I can’t believe we go TOMORROW!

Above is the Itinerary that I have planned to make sure I fit in everything I wish to do in the time we have in the city. After studying the map and the various exhibition dates and opening times I was able to work out what we needed to do each day. Hopefully we can get it all done :)

At 13.00 on the 4th there will be close to 100 enthusiastic fashion students at Heathrow airport, waiting to board the 8ish hour flight to JFK.

I haven’t started packing yet so I need to get a move on today to get it all done!

Where the Money Is- Downtown/Financial District

Downtown/Financial District

When Downtown there are a few key places I would like to visit.

I know it’s not a New York landmark but to me it’s very important I visit Century 21. Century 21 is a shop that makes “high fashion affordable and attainable everyday”. I’ve been told the best time to go is when it opens at 7.45 am – looks like it’s going to be a long day!

There is also Ground Zero, Wall Street, the NY stock exchange and the Charging Bull.

I’m also hoping I will be able to see a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from Battery Park.

New York Weather

Weather

Ok so it’s the 1st today, New Years was great but now I just can’t contain my excitement for the trip to New York with the Nottingham Trent FCP group!

We leave on Wednesday… I have been planning for what feels like months and now it being close enough to be able to look up the weather report it’s really hit me that I’m going to NYC.

Luckily it looks like no snow for us but its going to be pretty chilly!
